Tigers boast four NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year

Four Marshalltown Community College Athletic teams have been named NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year after posting cumulative grade point averages of 3.00 or better for the 2015-16 year.

The men's soccer program led the way with a 3.20 overall GPA. The women's volleyball team posted a 3.07 GPA followed by a 3.05 GPA from the softball team. The MCC Baseball team rounded out the national honors with a 3.02 GPA.

Of the 111 student-athletes on campus, the MCC Athletic Department boasted 61 of those members with a 3.00 or better GPA to give the department its most NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year in school history. The 10 individual academic award winners were also the most in school history.

This is the fifth NJCAA Academic Team of the Year Award for the softball team since 2007. The volleyball team has earned four honors since 2009.
