51st Tiger Days Golf Outing

51st Tiger Days Golf Outing

Marshalltown, IA – The Marshalltown Community College Athletic Department hosted community members at the American Legion Golf Course for its 51st Annual Tiger Days Golf Outing on Tuesday, September 11. The event is the department's largest scholarship fundraiser of the year, and brings out former athletes and supporters of the program. Every year the event raises enough money to allow the six varsity sports teams to purchase new uniforms, travel gear, footwear, and helps cover travel expenses as well as support the student athletes with athletic scholarships.

The golf outing was originally scheduled for Thursday, September 6 but due to steady rainfall the course was forced to postpone the event until Tuesday. With sunny skies and a light breeze, golfers enjoyed a beautiful day of best ball. Teams were able to mingle with current MCC athletes, coaches, and administrators, who were spread across the course playing games and giving out MCC merchandise.

This year JBS, Great Western Dinning, and Margie Brown were official food sponsors for the event. JBS grilled bratwurst for lunch and smoked pork chops for dinner while Great Western Dinning provided beans, cheesy potatoes, and coleslaw for the dinner. JBS also provided music for those who stayed for the social hour following dinner.

This year's title sponsors included Emerson Process Management, Independent Insurance Services, Great Western Dining, Kelley Fifer at Tiger Hawk Consulting, and JBS. Pin prizes were sponsored by the Marshalltown Community College Bookstore. Al Parks and Shawn Larmore of Decker Sports provided auction items, and Josh Hoglan of the American Legion Golf Course served as the official flight prize sponsor.

Participants were able to pay for raffle prizes donated by Allie Osmundson, The Funny Bone in Des Moines, Toad Valley Golf Center, Sky Zone in Grimes, Marshalltown Aviation, Bob Untiedt, Dave Engel, Angie Redmond, Jeff Slagle, Jill Stufflebeam, Darrin Redmond, Shawn Larmore of Decker Sports, Al Parks, Alliant Energy, and Kathleen Brown.

A special thank you goes out to all the hole sponsors, Pinnacle Bank, Marshalltown Alarm, Jerry and Robin Lilienthal, Great Western Bank, Kristin Polley of Five Star Real Estate Group, Mary Jane Beal of AAA, B & G HVAC, Rick and Margie Brown, Hawkins Electrical Service, Big 8 Tyre Center, Arnold Motor Supply, Shomo-Madsen Insurance, Mitchell Family Funeral Home, Farmers Savings Bank, MCC Faculty and Staff, Calvin Rockett, Mike Peschong, Dave Engel and Tom McCoy.
