MCC Athletics announces Spring Academic All-Region

 

The Marshalltown Community College athletic department has been informed by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) that 60 MCC student-athletes qualified for Fall Academic All-Region honors. First Team honorees must have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 to 4.0, and Second Team honorees must have a 3.0 to 3.49 GPA.

The Tiger baseball team qualified 18 players: First Team include Liam Allen of St. Andrews, MB, Canada; Anderson Fenton of Ridgetown, ON, Canada; Gabe Followell of Des Moines, IA; Brock Hatlan of Waukon, IA; Josh Ironside of St. Albert, AB, Canada; Gage Juhlin of Elkhorn, NE; Ernesto Moreno Jr of Chicago, IL; Ronald Nowak of Munster, IN; Luke Pell of Joliet, IL; Clayton Slack of Viroqua, WI; Sam Tyrpa of Minnetonka, MN and Leighton Whipple of Nebraska City, NE. Second Team honorees include Weston Durman of Neosho, MO; Matthew Hendricks of Waverly, IL; Riley Mckinnon of Burlington, ON, Canada; Sean Miklus of Indianola, IA; Duncan Picketts of Kensington, Prince Edwards Island, Canada and Joel Suraganan of Pickering, ON, Canada.

The men's basketball team qualified seven players: First Team include Darren Ainembabazi of London, England; Aleksandar Begovic of Kotor, Montenegro; Rusmir Hamzic of Sarajevo, Bosnia; Alasan Mbowe of Lamin, Gambia and German Soto of Bilbao, Spain. Eli Elston of Auburn, Al and Lavarius Hampton of Indiantown, FL earned Second Team honors.

The soccer team qualified 24 players: First Team include Ramon Chagas of Morretes, Brazil; Andre Lopes of Contagem, Brazil; Bernardo Pereira of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Felipe da Silva of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Felipe Duarte of Bogota, Colombia; Filipe de Almeida of Niteroi, Brazil; Fumiya Shiraishi of Tokyo, Japan; Gabriel Ormeneze of Curitiba, Brazil; Hikaru Togashi of Tokyo, Japan; Jhancarlo Palma of Caracas, Venezuela; Kirubel Goitom of Stuttgart, Germany; Lincoln Borges of Sabara, Brazil; Luan Marques of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Matheos Grahl Ribeiro of Curitiba, Brazil; Matheus de Oliveira of Salvador, Brazil; Nicolas Perdomo of Bogota, Colombia; Rafael Cagnin of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Ricardo Schoeder Junior of Toledo, Brazil; Sodai Koketsu of Yokohama, Japan; Sora Noda of Tokyo, Japan and Tiago Ormeneze of Curitiba, Brazil. Second Team honorees include Asuka Kaneda of Okayama, Japan; Rainer Hauss Pires of Belo Horizonte, Brazil and Seonghwi Lee of Miryang-si, South Korea

The softball team qualified 11 players: First Team include Riley Cox of Des Moines, IA; Emalee Davis of Oskaloosa, IA; Reagan Emerick of Macomb, IL; Aspyn Harrison of Shelby, NE; Kyleigh Westlin of Eldridge, IA and Paige Westlin of Eldridge, IA. Second Team honorees include Hannah Gibson of Pleasantville, IA; Sydney Haakenson of Carroll, IA; Alyssa McElvain of Centerville, IA; Hailey Montes-Stanton of Plattsmouth, NE and Kyan Nickel of Kearney, NE.
