The Marshalltown Community College men's baseball team has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2014 season. The Tigers will open up their campaign on the road at Roane State Community College (TN) on Feb. 7.
The Tigers look to build upon their 2013 season that saw MCC reach the Region XI Championship game, falling just short to Iowa Western. MCC will play the entire month of February and the first two weeks of March on the road, playing 20 games in five states against the likes of Roane State, Surry Community College, Danville Area Community College, Guilford Technical Community College, Crowder College, and Lakeland Community College.
MCC's home opener will be against Region XI Division II member Ellsworth Community College on March 15 for a pair of games. The Tigers will travel to Ellsworth the following day for a road doubleheader. The Tigers' first conference matchup will be against defending Region XI champion Iowa Western Community College for four games on March 29 and 30. The Reivers are ranked No. 11 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's NJCAA Division I preseason poll.
The Tigers will host Des Moines Area Community College, ranked No. 11 in the Division II preseason poll on April 1.
Also on the home agenda for the Tigers will be a nonconference game against 2013 Region XI DII runners-up Iowa Central and a four-game conference set against Western on April 19 and 20. MCC will host a pair of games against DII Kirkwood Community College on April 24 and will close out the regular season at the Shawn Williams Field with a four-game conference set against Indian Hills.
