Tigers drop game one, fall in extras in game two at Pitt CC

Kinston, NC— The Marshalltown Community College baseball team dropped a pair of games to Pitt Community College on Tuesday afternoon, falling 7-1 in game one and coming up just short in a 6-5 extra inning decision in game two. Bennett Mann (Marshalltown, IA/Marshalltown) and Aneudis Sandoval (Manati, PR/Fernando Callejo) each connected on home runs for the Tigers.

The Tigers (3-5) dropped game one despite a solid offensive performance from Mann. The sophomore went 3-3 at the plate with a solo home run, the first home run by the Tigers this year. The Bulldogs offensive production proved to be stronger as the Pitt outlasted the Tigers to take the opener.

Sandoval used a three-run home run to power the Tiger offense midway through game two but Pitt was able to force extra innings. Daryl Blaskovich (Brentwood Bay, BC/Lambrick Park) provided the go-ahead RBI in the top of the ninth inning to put the Tigers up 5-4, but the Bulldogs responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame to complete the sweep.
