Bennett Mann named ICCAC Baseball Player of the Week

Sophomore Bennett Mann (Marshalltown, IA/Marshalltown) of the Marshalltown Community College baseball team belted four home runs last week and has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Baseball Player of the Week. Mann helped lead the Tigers to a 3-3 record during their week-long trip to North Carolina.

Mann collected just one hit in the team's first five games of the 2014 season until the sophomore broke out with a 3-3 performance, including his first career home run against Pitt Community College. Two games later, Mann drilled his second home run of the year against Catawba Valley Community College.

After a cancellation of Friday's game against Guilford Technical Community College, Mann hit his third home run of the year on Saturday against the Titans in a 9-5 victory, snapping a three-game skid for the Tigers. The sophomore finished up the southern trip by going 2-3 with a home run and three RBI against Guilford, an 8-1 MCC victory.

Over the course of the week, Mann posted a .380 batting average, a 1.048 slugging percentage, and a .480 on base percentage after reaching base 12 times (eight hits, four walks). Mann also recorded 11 put outs in the outfield without committing an error.

Mann and the Tigers return to action with a trip to Crowder College (MO) for a four game series on Saturday and Sunday.
