Boone, IA—The Marshalltown Community College baseball team recorded just two hits on Tuesday afternoon in a 12-1 loss to the Des Moines Area Community College Bears in five innings, dropping the Tigers to 8-17 overall on the year. Eric Kent (Fort Madison, IA/Fort Madison) scored the team's lone run on the afternoon.

The Bears got to MCC starting pitcher Danny Smith (Oyens, IA/Remsen Union) early as DMACC scored four runs off the freshman in the opening inning. DMACC tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the second inning and two in the fourth to build a 9-0 lead.

The Tigers failed to put a runner on base until the top of the fifth inning as MCC loaded the bases with a pair of hits and a DMACC error. Kent scored the team's only run on a passed ball to prevent the shutout.

Drayson Lum (Victoria, BC/Lambrick Park) and Brandon Bordonaro (Plano, TX/Plano) tallied the only hits on the day for MCC.

The Tigers are scheduled for a doubleheader at Kirkwood Community College on Thursday afternoon.
