Center-Point Urbana senior middle infielder Logan Holtz signed his National Letter of Intent to play baseball for the Marshalltown Community College baseball team in 2014 on Friday afternoon, becoming the fifth player to sign with the Tigers.

In front of a large group of Center Point-Urbana friends and teammates, Holtz joined his parents, Stormin' Pointers' head coach Randy Chamberlin, and MCC assistant coach Chris Beall in signing his letter of intent. Holtz will graduate from CPU this spring.

Beall pointed to Holtz's athleticism as a point of emphasis in recruiting the right hander. "Logan is a versatile player that can provide depth at multiple positions. He's a solid middle infielder that has the opportunity to contribute on the mound for us as well."

During his junior season, Holtz batted .384 (53-138) while slugging .522 at the plate. Holtz drove in 28 runs while scoring 22 times and struck out just eight times in 150 total plate appearances in 2013.

"I'm very excited to have the opportunity to join the baseball program at Marshalltown. MCC will provide me the chance to successfully prepare for my future."

"Logan has the tools that fits well within our program," Beall added. "He joins a solid group of guys in our recruiting class that are hard-working student-athletes."
