Marshalltown, IA—The Marshalltown Community College baseball team managed just two hits on Sunday afternoon against Indian Hills Community College as the Falcons took two Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) victories, 2-0 and 6-0. The Tigers finish the regular season 21-31 overall and 9-15 in league play.

Next up for MCC is the Region XI Division I Baseball Tournament May 10-11 at Pat Daugherty Field in Centerville, IA. The Tigers earned the No. 3 seed and will face the No. 2 seed Iowa Western Community College Reivers in the opening round at 11:00 AM on Saturday. Indian Hills earned the No. 1 seed in the three-team double-elimination playoff.

Austin Battaglia (Waukee, IA/Waukee) allowed just four hits in game one as the freshman tossed a complete game against the Falcons. The right hander allowed just two runs, only one earned, while striking out seven betters but the lack of run support dealt Battaglia the loss. Daryl Blaskovich (Brentwood Bay, BC/Lambrick Park) and Bennett Mann (Marshalltown, IA/Marshalltown) recorded the lone hits for MCC.

The Falcons took an early three-run lead in game two after two innings of play. The MCC bullpen, consisting of Prince De Marco (Chicago, IL/Agricultural Sciences) and Kyle Herrick (Adel, IA/Adel-Desoto-Minburn) allowed just one run over the next four innings, but it was the offensive woes again that kept the Tigers from battling back.

Indian Hills starting pitcher Nick Green did not allow a hit on the afternoon and issued just one walk to earn the victory.
