A pair of former Marshalltown Community College baseball players have earned postseason accolades from their respective conferences at the  NCAA Division I level. Andrew Utterback of Alabama A&M was named the Hitter of the Year in the Southwestern Athletic Conference while Jordan McCoy of Houston Baptist was named to the Southland Conference Honorable Mention team.

Utterback, a member of the Tigers from 2011-2013, was voted as the top hitter by the league's head coaches and sports information contacts and was named to the First-Team All-SWAC. The outfielder powered the Bulldogs with a league-best .406 batting average, ninth-best in the NCAA. The first-year member of the Bulldogs, Utterback also led the SWAC in slugging percentage (.600), and on-base percentage (.517) while driving in 40 runs and scoring 27 more.

Utterback played in 96 career games at MCC and collected 84 total hits while batting .301. Utterback was named to the Second-Team All-Region XI as a sophomore.

McCoy ranked among the top hitters in the Southland Conference during his second season with the Huskies. McCoy, who started all 110 games during his two-year stint at Houston Baptists, batted .340 this year and tied for the team lead with four home runs. McCoy recorded 20 multi-hit games and posted a 16-game hit streak earlier in the year. The outfielder finished his career at Houston Baptist with the second-highest career batting average in program history at .335.

McCoy was a two-time Second-Team All-Region XI pick during his two years at MCC. The outfielder posted a career .356 batting average, with 121 hits and 13 home runs as a Tiger.
