The Marshalltown Community College baseball team took time on Wednesday afternoon to participate in MCC's annual United Way Day of Caring. Over 80 MCC students provided services to eight different agencies throughout Marshalltown along with more than 40 students performing multiple tasks on campus.

The baseball team spent the afternoon cleaning up the campus grounds, both inside and out. The services consisted of cleaning up the three campus dorms, pulling weeds, and beautifying the campus while others helped the Marshall County Child Care Services clear out the old Tiger Tots childcare area.

"For as much as MCC does for us as student-athletes," said sophomore Ryan Thrasher, "it's great that we can give back in some way. We spent the afternoon cleaning up the campus where we live. As both students and athletes, we take great pride in being Tigers and we're always glad to help make the school better any way we can."

Sophomore Kyle Herrick was one of the members that helped the Marshall County Child Care Services. "Since I've been at MCC, we've received great support from not only those on campus, but from people across the community. It's good to be able to help out those that support us. Day of Caring is a great way for everyone to support the campus and show how much we care about MCC."

Thrasher and Herrick were just two of the many sophomores on the baseball team that participated in their second straight Day of Caring.

Volunteers throughout the community take time on a specific day each year in the fall to give back to Marshalltown in a variety of ways at numerous organizations in Marshall County.
