Joel Lopez lands second-straight Pitcher of the Week honor

Freshman left-handed pitcher Joel Lopez (Dorado, PR/Jose S. Alegria) has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division I Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week after tossing a complete-game shutout.

Taking on conference-foe Muscatine Community College in the series finale on Sunday, Lopez dazzled on the mound, allowing just two hits in his first-career complete game to improve to 2-0 on the hill this year. Lopez faced just 24 batters, striking out four while walking just one to clinch the series for the Tigers, three games to one.

Lopez has allowed just one earned run in his last 21 innings of work, lowering his earned run average to a conference-best 1.42 on the year.
