The Marshalltown Community College baseball team returns to Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) action with a four-game home-stand against Indian Hills Community College this weekend at Shawn Williams Field.

After one full weekend of conference play, the Tigers currently sit in first place with a 3-1 league mark after winning three out of four against Muscatine Community College last weekend. Indian Hills split its four-game series with Iowa Western Community College last week to go 2-2.

MCC has posted a 10-13 overall record, including a loss to the Falcons, who are 14-12 overall, on March 20. In a nonconference matchup in Centerville, IA, Indian Hills took an 8-5 victory over the Tigers. Sophomore Alexis Melendez (Trujillo Alto, PR/IBAHS) recorded two doubles and Logan Holtz (Urbana, IA/Center Point-Urbana) went 3-4 in the single nine-inning game. Wyatt Stark (Mt. Pleasant, IA/Fairfield) struck out four batters in 4.2 innings of work in the loss.

The Tigers are coming off of an 8-7 come-from-behind win at Southwestern Community College on Thursday after dropping a pair of road games at Kirkwood Community College on Tuesday.

After dropping the final two conference games to Iowa Western on Sunday, Indian Hills has won back-to-back games, including a 21-11 drubbing against Ellsworth Community College on Wednesday.

Bennett Lopez (Dorado, PR/PRBA) is riding a 12 game hitting streak and has scored 10 runs during that stretch. Lopez's .377 batting average leads MCC. Freshman Joel Lopez (Dorado, PR/Jose S. Alegria) is coming off of back-to-back ICCAC Division I Pitcher of the Week awards and leads the conference with a 1.42 earned run average.

The Falcons are led by Mitch Langer who is batting .418, good enough for fourth in the ICCAC. Langer's 38 RBI and five home runs lead the conference.
