Pedro Lopez signs with Williams Baptist College

Former Marshalltown Community College baseball player Pedro Lopez (Naples, FL/Naples) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Williams Baptist College Eagles. Lopez will join former Tiger Eric Kent (2012-14) on the Eagles' roster.

Lopez appeared in 96 career games over two seasons for the Tigers, starting primarily as an infielder. Lopez recorded 43 hits in 2015 to give him 72 for his career. The Naples, FL native also tallied 43 career runs and 14 extra base hits. As a sophomore, Lopez earned Honorable Mention All-Region XI status.

"I enjoyed my time at MCC because I had the opportunity to play baseball," Lopez stated. "The small class sizes allowed me to focus on my work in the classroom. Everything I needed as a student-athlete was available to me on campus. Being able to play baseball was the best for me at MCC."

Williams Baptist, an NAIA institution located in Walnut Ridge, AR, went 18-30 in 2015 and won eight of their final 12 contests, including a win in the American Midwest Conference Tournament. Kent had a successful year for the Eagles, appearing in 44 games while posting a .275 batting average and hit five home runs, second-most on the team.

"I look forward to playing for as long as I can," Lopez continued. "Going to Williams Baptist will give me the chance to do that."
