NJCAA Division I Baseball Poll

After sweeping No. 7 Iowa Western Community College in a pair of games on Friday, the Marshalltown Community College Baseball team has received votes in this week's NJCAA Division I Baseball Poll. The Tigers appeared in the national rankings for the first time since 2005.

Boasting a 28-18 record on the year, the Tigers last received votes in the national rankings on April 20, 2005 after that year's team got off to a 21-11 start. The 2005 squad set a program-record with 31 wins while this year's team has five games to play and are just three wins away from tying the mark.

MCC took a pair of games from the Reivers on Friday, winning 7-4 and 4-1 behind dominant pitching and timely hitting. The Reivers evened the four-game weekend series with a pair of wins on Monday afternoon. Iowa Western fell from No. 7 to No. 12 in this week's poll.

The Tigers currently rank second in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) with a 10-10 record, one game ahead of third-place Indian Hills Community College who sits at 9-11. The two teams will play a four-game series this weekend at Shawn Williams Field to decide the final league standings before the Region XI Tournament opens up on May 13.

MCC's first game while in the national conversation will be this Thursday night at Ellsworth Community College. First pitch is set for 7:00 PM.
