Kolton Gonnerman (Centerville, IA/Centerville) of the Marshalltown Community College Baseball team has been selected to the NJCAA National Team roster that will compete at the 82nd National Baseball Congress (NBC) World Series this summer. Gonnerman is one of 26 players throughout the country named to the team.

"It's an honor to be asked to be a part of a team of this caliber," Gonnerman expressed. "I'm hoping I can represent MCC well at the tournament. What I'm most looking forward to is meeting the different guys on the team that are from all over the country."

Gonnerman, who has committed to play at Missouri State University next season, was an All-Region XI First-Team selection in 2016 after posting an 8-1 record on the mound, tying a program-record for single season wins. The right-handed hurler completed his MCC career with an 11-3 record and an impressive 2.85 earned run average while making 22 career appearances.

"I truly believe without MCC I wouldn't be where I am today," Gonnerman added in regards to his time as a Tiger. "You can't win without a team and I was lucky enough to play with one of the best teams in the nation this year."

The NJCAA National Team will compete at the NBC World Series from July 29-August 13 at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium in Wichita, KS which has hosted the event since 1935. This year's NJCAA roster includes players from all three divisions of NJCAA baseball from 22 different colleges.

This year's NJCAA team will be coached by Zach Crabtree of Murray State (OK) who served as an assistant on the team in 2014. Gonnerman will join fellow Region XI player Jared Gates, an infielder for Iowa Western Community College.

MCC head coach Rich Grife commended Gonnerman for his dedication and hard work over his two years at MCC which led to this opportunity. "This is truly a remarkable achievement among many that Kolton has earned throughout the years. This is a great moment for the entire program, and we couldn't be more proud of Kolton."
