Sophomore Luis Duran (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Centro de Estudio Espaillat) of the Marshalltown Community College baseball team has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division I Player of the Week after leading the Tigers to a pair of wins over the weekend in Tennessee.

Duran picked up the first weekly accolade as the Tigers went 2-2 at Roane State Community College. During the four-game set, Duran posted a .467 batting average with a .533 slugging percentage. The team totaled 26 runs and Duran was responsible for seven of those runs.

In the season opener, Duran went 1-3 with a run scored, but the Tigers fell to the Raiders 6-5. Duran added a double and run in game two on Friday to carry MCC to a 9-7 win, the team's first of the year.

In Saturday's doubleheader, Duran upped his effort with a 2-4 performance with two RBI in a 6-4 game one win. The sophomore closed out the weekend going 3-5 in game two with two RBI and a run scored.

Duran, an All-Region XI pick as a freshman in 2016, also made a pair of highlight-reel plays in the field and finished the weekend with a 1.000 fielding percentage in nine total chances.

The Tigers return to Tennessee this weekend for a four-game series at Motlow State Community College on Friday and Saturday.
