Luis Duran (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Centro de Estudio Espaillat) of the Marshalltown Community College baseball team has tacked on another weekly award for his play last week. The sophomore has been named the NJCAA Division I Baseball Player of the Week.

DURAN LANDS SECOND ICCAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR

Duran becomes the third Tiger over the last two seasons to earn national honors, joining current teammates Diogen Ceballos (La Vega, Dominican Republic/Liceo la Romana) and Enmanuel Lopez (Santiago, Dominican Republic/Prepara).

Duran, who has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Faulkner University Eagles next season, batted .609 last week with four home runs and 12 RBI at the plate for the Tigers.

Along with a 1-4 performance at the plate on Tuesday afternoon, Duran is currently on a nine-game hitting streak.

The Tigers are back in action this weekend against Indian Hills Community College where Duran and 22 of his sophomore classmates will be honored for their contributions to the MCC baseball program over the past two seasons.
