Tigers go 1-3 against the Falcons of Indian Hills

Game One: Won 4-2

The Tigers opened the weekend with their best overall game of the season. Walter Hernandez was on the mound for the Tigers, pitching all seven innings. Hernandez faced 28 batters, recording four strikeouts while giving up two runs. The Falcons scored first, bringing a single run in, in the second inning. The Tigers responded by bringing Carter Eldridge, Jose Mieses, and Jeffry Roldan home from a deep double to center field by Marving Serrano. Both teams added runs in the fifth inning and went scoreless in the final innings to give the Tigers their second conference win of the season.

Game Two: Lost 6-3

Game two started with a flurry of scores by the Falcons as they opened up the first inning with three quick runs and added another three in the second. Down 6-0, pitchers David Davila and Tryston Durham would not give up another run the rest of the way. Jose Mieses found his way around the bases in the 5th inning to get the Tigers on the board. Centerville native, Hunter Cowan tried getting the Tigers back in the game in the sixth, hitting an RBI single to bring the Tigers within three but would go scoreless in the top of the seventh to end the game.

Game Three: Lost 10-5

Friday morning, the Tigers got off to a fast start plating two runs in the first inning but were unable to quiet the Falcons bats as they responded by plating three in the first and second innings. Leading the Tigers at the plate with two hits apiece were Jose Mieses, Jeffry Roldan, and Brodie Paulson. Jose Mieses, who smashed a triple to centerfield, led off the third inning. Mieses was able to score on an Indian Hills throwing error. Marshalltown tacked on two more runs in the third on Brodie Paulson's two RBI double. The Falcons bats came alive in the fifth inning, adding three runs to outscore the Tigers 10-5. Greg Glass started on the mound facing 20 batters while surrendering eight hits and six earned runs.

Game Four: Lost 14-4

The final game of the series ended after only five innings as the Indian Hills Falcons outscored the Marshalltown Tigers 14-4. Again, the Tigers started out hot scoring two runs in the first inning. Brodie Paulson hit an RBI single scoring Jeffry Roldan, and Reece Blay drove in Marving Serrano to wrap up the first. The Falcons poured on 13 runs in the fourth and fifth innings to close out the Tigers. Indian Hills took the series 3-1 against Marshalltown.

The Tigers will be back in action Tuesday, April 17 when they travel to Fort Dodge, Iowa to take on the Tritons of Iowa Central Community College. The Tritons are currently 19-18 on the season and 8-6 in ICCAC Division II baseball. The non-conference game is set to start at 2:00 p.m. on the Iowa Central Campus.
