Tigers down NIACC in home opener

MARSHALLTOWN, IA -Five players reached double figures as MCC (3-0) defeated Iowa Community College Conference foe NIACC (1-1), 86-63 in its home opener Tuesday, November 13.

 

MCC out-shot the Trojans 47% to 27% from the field hitting 32 of 68 shots. The Tigers were paced offensively with 20 points from sophomore Chris Caird. Caird also pulled down a team high 14 rebounds in the victory.

 

The Trojans were unable to capitalize on several MCC turnovers. The Tigers committed 20 turnovers on the evening while the visitors recorded 11.   

 

Freshman Troidell Carter (Lilburn, GA) chipped in 13 points, while sophomore Matej Delinac (Toronto, Canada) and freshman Marlon Williams (Birmingham, AL) each contributed 11 points. Freshman Jamal Gatali (Toronto, Canada) contributed 9 rebounds for the Tigers.

 

The Tigers will look to continue their winning streak as they host Kirkwood Community College (1-2) at the Student Activities Center, Friday, November 9, at 7:00 pm.
