Sophomore Troidell Carter (Lilburn, GA/Meadowcreek) and freshman Mike Rodriguez (Boston, MA/Redemption Christian Academy) of the Marshalltown Community College men's basketball team have been named to the Division I All-Region XI Second-Team after leading the Tigers to a 17-14 record.

Carter earned second-team status after he was named to the Honorable Mention team after his freshman campaign. Carter came into his own during the second half of the season, where he averaged 18.4 points and 7.5 rebounds in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play. Carter finished the year starting 32 games with averages of 15.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Carter ranked fourth in the conference in rebounding.

From Feb. 8-Feb. 24, a stretch of six games, Carter averaged 25.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per game, a run that included four double-doubles. The sophomore registered eight total double-doubles on the year and scored in double-figures 27 times, including seven games of at least 20 points. Carter earned ICCAC Player of the Week honors on Feb. 25 and Jan. 14.

While Carter paced the MCC frontcourt, Rodriguez guided the Tigers in the backcourt. After taking over as the team's starting point guard on Jan. 8, Rodriguez scored in double-figures in 16 straight games and averaged 21.3 points per game. Rodriguez scored at least 20 points on 10 separate occasions, including a career-high 33 points against No. 1 nationally ranked Indian Hills Community College.

Rodriguez ranked fourth in scoring in the ICCAC with a 16.7 mark. The rookie led the Tigers in points per game, free throws made and attempted, three-point percentage, assists, and steals. For his efforts, Rodriguez was named ICCAC Player of the Week three times over the course of the season.
