Marshalltown Community College men's basketball player Mike Rodriguez (Boston, MA/Redemption Christian Academy) had the opportunity to display his talents to some of the top Division I coaches across the country this past weekend as the sophomore participated in the All-American JUCO Showcase Elite 80 in Atlanta, GA. For his efforts, Rodriguez was selected to the camp's All-Star game on Sunday.
Rodriguez, an All-Region XI selection as a freshman in 2013-14 at MCC, was one of 80 players invited to participate in the elite camp. Rodriguez played in three total games over the weekend where over 400 NCAA Division I coaches were in attendance.
At the end of the day Saturday, Rodriguez was one of 20 players from the camp selected to participate in the Elite 80 All-Star game on Sunday, featuring some of the top junior college players from across the country.
"I thought that I played really well over the weekend," said Rodriguez, "including the all-star game. I was able to get my teammates involved, especially through the pick and roll game. It was a great opportunity to participate in such a high-level event."
