The Marshalltown Community College athletic department donated two retro No. 22 jerseys that have been put up for auction to benefit Lauren Hill and The Cure Starts Now Foundation. Hill, a member of the Mount St. Joseph’s women’s basketball team, has been diagnosed with a rare cancer known as Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG).

NCAA president Mark Emmert asked schools from around the nation to send No. 22 jerseys, Hill’s number, to the NCAA Division III institution in Cincinnati, OH. Hill has signed more than 300 jerseys that are currently being auctioned off.

Hill’s story has swept across the nation and has been seen throughout the media, including ESPN and ABC News. The Lions received permission from the NCAA to move up the team’s season-opener that allowed Hill to play in the team’s first game of the season, which saw the Lions defeat Hiram College 66-55 on Sunday.
