Former Marshalltown Community College men's basketball player Chris Caird has seen his career take off following his stint with the Tigers. The native of Daventry, England has reached new heights with his addition to the Great Britain National Team roster.

Caird will be one of 10 players on the roster when the team travels to Holland for the Netherlands Tournament. Great Britain will take on Netherlands on August 14 and Portugal on August 15 in international competition. Both games are scheduled for 1:00 PM Central Time.

National Team Director Warwick Cann was quoted as saying, "The Netherland's tournament offers a further opportunity for the coaches to integrate and review players and for us to build depth in our National squad.

MCC head coach Brynjar Brynjarsson commended Caird for excelling on the court throughout his career. "Chris has worked extremely hard and when you do that on a daily basis, good things will happen."

Caird, who finished his playing career at MCC in 2013, was a first-team All-Region selection after averaging 18.0 points and 6.0 rebounds a game as a senior. Caird also earned Academic All-Region honors before moving on to Drake University. Caird found success for the Bulldogs, playing in all 31 games, making 13 starts during his senior season in 2014-15.

Caird signed his first professional contract on June 21, joining the FSU Selfoss team in the Icelandic Dominos League. The team received promotion to the top flight of the league after claiming the Division I playoff title.
