2015-16 MCC Men's Basketball Schedule

The Marshalltown Community College Men's Basketball team has announced its 2015-16 season schedule. The Tigers open up the season on Oct. 30 with the Emerson Classic in the Student Activity Center.

MCC is coming off of a 19-13 season that ended with an upset win in the Region XI Tournament over Southeastern Community College before bowing out in a hard-fought loss in the final minutes to top-seeded Indian Hills Community College. The Tigers posted 10 consecutive wins between December and January.

The 2015-16 season pits MCC in multiple tournaments, two of which the Tigers will host. On the opening night, Friday, Oct. 30, MCC will take on Pure Prep Academy at 7:00 PM and will host Highland Community College at 7:00 PM on Saturday. MCC won both of its games at the Emerson Classic in 2014.

Following a pair of early home nonconference games against William Penn JV on Nov. 3 and Kirkwood Community College on Nov. 11, the Tigers will host the Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel Classic in the Student Activity Center. The first edition of the three-day event will welcome Indiana Elite and Little Priest Tribal College. The Tigers play Indiana Elite on Nov. 12 and Little Priest on Nov. 14. The two opponents will play one another on Friday night.

After six straight home games to start the season, MCC hits the road for three consecutive nonconference contests, including a date at Ellsworth Community College at 7:30 PM on Nov. 24.

In 2014, the Tigers 10-game winning streak featured a run at the HCC William R. Bear Classic, hosted by Highland Community College that saw MCC claim the championship after going 3-0. The Tigers return to Freeport on Dec. 11-12 looking to capture its second-straight title.

The Tigers close out the first half of the year with a home contest against Iowa Lakes Community College at 7:00 PM on Dec. 16

MCC opens up the second half of the season at Kirkwood Community College on Jan. 6 before returning home to wrap up its nonconference schedule against Ellsworth on Jan. 9 and Quakerdale Prep Academy on Jan. 13.

Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play opens up on the road against Indian Hills Community College at 7:00 pm on Jan. 20. The Tigers host conference foes Northeast Community College (Jan. 23), Iowa Western Community College (Jan. 27), Indian Hills (Feb. 6), and Southeastern Community College (Feb. 17). The regular season concludes on Jan. 20 as the Tigers travel to Iowa Western.

The Region XI Tournament begins on Feb. 22 with the championship game slated for Feb. 27.
