Tigers run past Graceland JV for a 97-59 win

Lamoni, IA—Freshman Nick Cross (Beverly, MA/Beverly) scored a career-high 21 points to lead the Marshalltown Community College Men's Basketball team to a 97-59 victory over Graceland JV on the road Thursday night. Four players scored in double-figures, including three off the bench.

Cross finished the night 8-15 shooting, including 5-10 from three-point range. Cross has now hit five threes in a game three times this season. Freshman Reggie Gradwell (Marshalltown, IA/West Marshall) recorded his first-career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Christal Malalu (Eindhoven, Netherlands/Koning Willem I) also added 14 points and Amir Maddred (Camden, NJ/Camden) scored 10 points off the bench.

As a team, the Tigers (10-2) knocked down 10 three-point shots, tied for the second-most in a game this year as Gradwell added two three-pointers of his own. All 11 players that appeared in the game scored for the Tigers. As a team, the Tigers shot 50.0 percent (37-74) from the floor.

MCC assisted on 25 of the team's 37 field goals, led by a career-high eight helpers from Vincent Lasley (Tama, IA/South Tama).

MCC led 43-30 at halftime, but used a 54-29 advantage in the second half to close out the game.

The Tigers travel to Southwestern Community College for a 7:00 PM game on Dec. 9.
