Tigers stumble on the road at Southwestern

Creston, IA—Tyler Miller (Louisville, KY/22ft Academy) and Nick Cross (Beverly, MA/Beverly) scored nearly half of the Marshalltown Community College Men's Basketball team's points on Wednesday night as the Tigers fell to Southwestern Community College 91-69 on the road.

Miller totaled a career-high 19 points for MCC and Cross added 15 off the bench for the Tigers. Cross' output came on 5-10 shooting from three-point range as the freshman notched his fifth double-digit scoring game of the year and has now hit at least five three-pointers in four games this season. Cross is averaging 18 points over his last two games.

The Tigers fell behind early as the Spartans built a double-digit lead through the first 10 minutes of the first half. Southwestern grabbed a 46-26 advantage at halftime and never looked back in the cross-division matchup.

Reggie Gradwell (Marshalltown, IA/West Marshall) and Souf Mensah (Nantes, France/CCI) each added eight points in the loss for the Tigers.

MCC travels to Freeport, IL to take part in the William R. Bear Classic hosted by Highland Community College this weekend. The Tigers open up against Midwest Elite Prep at 7:00 PM on Friday. In last year's classic, the Tigers won the championship after going 3-0.
