Paulius Sakinis signs with Peru State College

Marshalltown Community College Men's Basketball sophomore Paulius Sakinis (Klaipeda, Lithuania/Lourdes Central Catholic) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join Peru State College for the 2016-17 season.

Sakinis was a member of the Tigers for the past two seasons and averaged 5.1 points during his career while shooting 50.4 percent from the floor. Sakinis appeared in 63 career games as a forward, making 49 total starts.

Peru State is a NAIA Division I institution located in Peru, NE. Under second year head coach Eric Behrens, the Bobcats posted a 22-11 record during the 2015-16 season and reached the NAIA Division I postseason tournament for the first time since 1996-97.

Sakinis, who graduated from MCC on May 6 with a liberal arts degree, has been named to the Academic All-Region XI First-Team for three consecutive semesters.

Sakinis joins fellow MCC sophomore Amir Maddred (Camden, NJ/Camden) to sign with a four-year institution. Maddred will play at Slippery Rock University next season.
