Brynjarsson hits milestone as Tigers top Quakerdale

New Providence, IA—Marshalltown Community College men's basketball coach Brynjar Brynjarsson reached his 200th career win on Wednesday night as the Tigers ran past Quakerdale Prep 92-67 on the road. Four different Tigers reached double-figures in the win for MCC.

Freshman Mohamed Thiam (Dekar, Senegal/Canarias) reached the 20-point plateau for the fourth time this year, scoring 22 in the win. Thiam has scored in double-figures in nine-straight games, averaging 18.5 points per contest.

Joining Thiam in double-digits was Brandon Simmons (Harlem, NY/Teaneck) who added 22 points, a career-high at MCC for the sophomore. Freshman BJ Millard (Dunwoody, GA/Dunwoody) also reached a personal-best, scoring 19 points in the win. Sophomore Reggie Gradwell (Marshalltown, IA/West Marshall) buried the Eagles from deep, connecting on five three-point shots to finish the night with 17 points.

The Tigers controlled the game throughout the night, building a 47-27 lead at halftime before extending the margin in the second half.

Brynjarsson notched the milestone victory in his 12th season at the helm of the Tigers

MCC takes to the road on Saturday night to square off with Iowa Western Community College in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) action at 7:00 PM. The Reivers slipped by MCC 79-69 in Marshalltown on Jan. 21.
