Marshalltown, IA— Sophomore Jonas Perkis (Trondheim, Norway/Charlottenlund VGS) pulled down 21 rebounds and Tony Smith (Marshalltown, IA/Marshalltown) added 19 points as the Marshalltown Community College men's basketball varsity reserve team topped Pure Prep Academy 77-54 on Sunday evening at the Student Activity Center.

Freshman Berk Karadan (Izmir, Turkey/Izmir Zubeyde) led all scorers with 22 points on 11-18 shooting. Smith knocked down three three-point shots while Marquas Gafeney (Waterloo, IA/Waterloo East) chipped in 15 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Perkis contributed nine points while dominating the glass on Sunday.

Gafeney hit a jump shot at the 18:01 mark of the first half to break a 6-6 tie and the Tigers maintained the lead the rest of the game, leading by as many as 39 midway through the second half.

The Tigers improve to 5-3 on the year.
