Tigers Score 111 in Home Blowout

The MCC men's basketball team hosted the 2-2 Saints of Presentation College on Thursday night in the Student Activity Center. The 2-1 Tigers are coming off a tough loss to the returning Division II National Champion Spartans of Southwestern Community College on Tuesday night. Thursday night the Tigers would respond by defeating the Presentation College Varsity Reserve team 111-63.

"It was good to see all of our players be able to get on the court and perform well," stated Head Coach Brynjar Brynjarsson. "Every player went in with a purpose and everyone played hard tonight."

Mohamed Thiam again had an impressive night with 17 points and 11 rebounds. The returning All-Region selection has been a force for the Tigers so far this season. Eduardo Lane also finished with double-digit points on the night as he finished with 14. Bassirou Ndiaye, who has been nursing an injury the past few weeks, finally saw significant playing time and made the most of it scoring nine points and grabbing nine rebounds.

Although the starters played well the crowd got involved when the Tiger reserves came into the game. Marshalltown's own Tony Smith recorded 11 points and grabbed four rebounds on the night. Freshman Palmi Thorsson entered the game and played 12 minutes recording two assist and one steal that made the stands erupt.

The Saints will play in the Student Activity Center Friday at 3:00 pm when they take on the Warriors of Little Priest Tribal College. The Tigers will then play the Warriors on Saturday at 7:00 pm in the Student Activity Center. Saturday's game will be streamed live with links posted on the MCC Athletics website and posted on the athletics Facebook and Twitter.
