Tigers Fall to 6-2

The MCC men's basketball team took on the Ellsworth Community College Panthers in the Student Activity Center Tuesday night. The Tigers have started the season 6-1 after picking up two wins last weekend in the Emerson Classic. The visiting Panthers have also started hot picking up five straight wins before dropping their last two to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and Northern Oklahoma College. Tuesday night the Panthers would hand the Tigers their second loss of the season in a 72-68 thriller.

The Tigers would hold a one-point lead at half after hitting a three at the buzzer. While Mohamed Thiam would record yet another double double, dropping 21 points a grabbing 10 rebounds, the Tigers could not get the offense working. Collectively the Tigers shot 19.2% from the three-point line and turned the ball over ten times. The Panthers had four players in double-digit point totals led by Darius Lasley who would end the night with 21 points. LeVeechie Williams would end with double double for the Panthers, as he would score 14 points and grab 10 rebounds, and both Isaiah Johnson and Tristan Forsyth would end with 11 points.

"Tonight we lacked efficiency and played poorly on defense," stated Head Coach Brynjar Brynjarsson. "At times we played well but our play defensively held us back. We will get back to work and try to make sure we don't have a repeat of this performance."

The 6-2 Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, November 25, when they host Des Moines Area Community College in the Student Activity Center at 3:00. The DMACC men's basketball team are 7-1 on the season and averaging 91 points a game. The Bears are led in scoring by freshmen guard Lee Higgins and sophomore guard Wali Parks who each average over 17 points per game.
