Tigers Dominate at Home

The MCC men's basketball team hosted their first game after the holiday break on Monday night against the JV squad of Clarke University. The Tigers came out slow and sluggish to start the first half but would get into rhythm and run away with a 101-62 victory. The Tigers were led in scoring by freshman Oscar Kao who went 9-17 from the field for 24 points.

"Oscar played another solid game for us," stated Head Coach Brynjar Brynjarsson. "He has great awareness and seems to make plays every game."

Mohamed Thiam would also be productive scoring 14 points on the night. The Tiger bench saw extended playing time with Edvin Tedesjo recording 13 points. Palmi Thorsson and Kelton Edwards would each add 12 on the night as well.

"Getting those younger guys in the game and seeing what they can do is important for this team. We are going to count on some of these players towards the end of the season so seeing them respond to adversity and make smart decisions was a positive tonight," stated Brynjarsson after the game.

The Tigers will be back in action Wednesday, January 10 when they travel to Iowa Falls, Iowa to take on the Panthers of Ellsworth Community College. This will be the second game between the Iowa Valley schools this season. The previous match up saw the Panthers come away with a 72-68 victory in the Student Activity Center back in November. The rematch will tip off at 7:30 and can be viewed online at mccathletics.com by clicking on the Tiger Live Stream tab.
