Tigers Fall to 12-8 After Loss to Indian Hills

The MCC men's basketball team traveled to Ottumwa, Iowa Saturday night to take on the Warriors of Indian Hills Community College. The Warriors entered the contest ranked #2 in the latest NJCAA rankings with a perfect 20-0 record on the season. The Tigers entered the contest with a 12-7 record after dropping their last two games to conference foes Iowa Western Community College and Southeastern Community College.

The Tigers got down early in the first half and went into the break trailing 48-30. The high scoring Warriors, who average 93 points per game, where on pace to surpass that mark early on. The Tiger offense would be unable to cut into the lead and would fall 84-56.

"Tonight was disappointing but we can learn a lot from our performance," stated Head Coach Brynjar Brynjarsson. "We will get back and break down the film and try to get better as we move forward."

Bassirou Ndiaye led the way for the Tigers going 6-9 from the field for 15 points. Mohamed Thiam struggled offensively going 5-19 from the field while grabbing seven rebounds. Kelton Edwards came off the bench and recorded 10 points going 4-10 from the field.  The Warriors had ten players score in the conference match up with four players in double digits. Antonio Williams was the top performer of the night going 7-11 from the field and 4-5 from the free throw line for 18 points.

The 12-8 Tigers will be back in action on Monday, January 22 when they take on Simpson College JV in the Student Activity Center at 7:00. The game will be streamed live with links posted on the MCC Athletics Facebook and Twitter, as well as posted on MCCathletics.com under the 'Tiger Live Stream' tab.
