Oscar Kao Signs with Southeast Missouri State University

Marshalltown, IA – The Marshalltown Community College men's basketball team has sent another player to the division I ranks as freshman guard, Oscar Kao will take his talents to Southeast Missouri State University. The 6'0 guard from Taipei, Taiwan provided highlight reel plays all season long for the Tigers, averaging over 13 points a game. An efficient shooter, Kao shot 44.3 percent from the field and 39 percent from behind the three-point arc earning him Second Team All-Region honors.

In the Tigers signature win against conference rival, Iowa Western, Koa dominated the game from start to finish, going 11-15 from the field including 5-7 from beyond the arc for 29 points in the 77-59 thrashing of the Reivers.

"Oscar worked very hard on and off the court during his time at MCC," stated Head Caoch Brynjar Brynjarsson. "It goes to show where hard work can get you. SEMO is getting a great kid that will put forth the work, and will have an impact in winning."

Kao will enter a program led by fourth year Head Coach, Rick Ray. Ray is engineering a revival of the Redhawks basketball program that finished 14-17 and 8-10 a season ago. Ray has been around successful programs his entire career, serving as an assistant coach at University of Nebraska-Omaha (2 seasons), Indiana State (7 seasons), Purdue (4 seasons), and Clemson (2 seasons) before getting his first head coaching experience at Mississippi State (3 seasons). Now with the Southeast Missouri State, Ray looks to improve in Ohio Valley Conference play in their quest to dethrone perennial powers Murray State, Morehead State, and Belmont.
