Tigers Fall to .500 with Loss at NJCAA DII #5 Kirkwood

The MCC Men's Basketball Team traveled to Kirkwood Community College on Wednesday, November 14 to take on the NJCAA DII #5 Eagles. The Tigers entered the game with a 3-2 record while the Eagles entered 3-1. At the end of the night, the Tiers would fall to .500 as the Eagles moved to 4-1.

A lack of offensive production from the backcourt proved costly as the Tigers produced their lowest scoring output of the season. While the Tigers defense was able to keep the contest close, ultimately, the Eagles of Kirkwood would find a way to slightly outscore the Tigers in each half and cruise to an 84-71 victory on their home court.

The Kirkwood offense was very well balanced with five players recording double digit point totals led by 18 points from Allante Pickens. While the leading scorer for the Tigers, Kelton Edwards, also put up 18 points, it was the depth of the Eagles that proved to be the difference. While only Bassirou Ndiaye joined Edwards in double digits with 16, Pickens was joined by Connor Kasperbauer with 17, Devonte Thedford and Luke Appel with 16, and Doug Wilson with 12.

The Tigers will look to rebound when they host the Emerson Classic this Friday and Saturday. On Friday, the Tigers will square off with Grand View JV at 7 PM and on Saturday, they will face Highland Community College for a 7 PM matchup.
