Tigers Cruise to Win Over Grand View JV

To wrap up day one of the Emerson Classic, Tiger Men's Basketball took on Grand View University JV. The 7 PM matchup saw the visiting Vikings come out of the gates with more energy and executing better than the Tigers as they opened up an early lead. However, from the midway point of the first half on, the Tigers controlled the pace and the game.

With the Tigers struggling early, Kelton Edwards put the team on his back and took over for spurts. The sophomore score 20 of his game-high 25 points in the first half. Behind the strong play of Edwards, the Tigers were able to open up a 15 point lead by halftime and entered the locker room up 51-36.

The second half saw the Tigers continue their strong play as they shot 48.6% from the field including 41.7% from the three-point line. Edwards was quiet in the second half scoring just five points, but four other Tigers joined him in double digit points. JJ Foster, Nick Fleming, Eduardo Lane, and Juan Coffi each scored between 12-16 points in the game to help balance the Tiger offense.

With the game in control, the Tigers were able to take a look at some of their reserve players and younger players in some extended time off the bench. With many of the starters being able to rest valuable minutes, the Tigers look to go 2-0 in the Emerson classic when they take on Highland at 7 PM on Saturday, November 17 in the closing game of the tournament.
