A year after placing fifth at the NJCAA national tournament, the Marshalltown Community College men's soccer team looks to build on its recent success. The Tigers have released their 2013 schedule, consisting of eight home contests.

The Tigers will open up the 2013 campaign with a series of scrimmages before opening up the regular season with a home match against Grand View on August 25 at 6:00 PM. MCC will host Cloud County Community College three days later before traveling to Rosemount, MN to take part in the Kickoff Classic, hosted by Dakota County Technical College.

The Tigers, who went 2-0-1 at the tournament last year will take on Lake County on Friday. MCC defeated the Lancers 3-0 last season. The Tigers will take on Anoka-Ramsey on day two of the tournament, set to begin at 3:30 PM. The two teams played to a 2-2 draw last season.

Following a meeting with the Iowa State club team on Sept. 8, the Tigers will open up the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) portion of their schedule on the road, traveling to Iowa Western. MCC defeated the Reivers 1-0 in the Region XI championship game last season to advance to the NJCAA Tournament.

MCC's first home conference game will be against Scott Community College on Sept. 14. Other home conference dates include Sept. 17 against Iowa Lakes, Oct. 1 against Iowa Central, Oct. 5 against Iowa Western, Oct. 15 against North Iowa Area, and Oct. 19 against Indian Hills. The Tigers will close out the regular season on the road against Iowa Central on Oct. 26.

The first round of the Region XI Tournament will be played on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at the higher seed. The semi-final and championship rounds will be held at James Cownie Soccer Park in Des Moines on Nov. 2-3.
