John Krause named ICCAC Offensive Player of the Week

Freshman forward John Krause (Slater, IA/Ballard) led the Marshalltown Community College men's soccer team to two conference victories last week and for his efforts, Krause has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Offensive Player of the Week.

The award is the first of his young career at MCC and is also the first Tiger to be honored by the ICCAC this season.

In a 4-2 win over Iowa Lakes CC on Tuesday, Krause assisted on two goals to give the Tigers the conference victory. Leading 1-0 late in the first half, Krause teamed up with Roberto Velazquez (San Antonio, TX/Ronald Reagan) to double the team's lead. Krause found Velazquez again in the second half as the two connected for the Tigers' final goal of the game.

MCC picked up its second conference win of the week with a 2-1 win over North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) on Saturday as Krause was credited with the game-winning goal. Sophomore Alex Galvan (San Antonio, TX/Ronald Reagan) found Krause in the 33rd minute to help the Tigers improve to 7-2-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

Krause ranks second on the team this year with five goals and 14 points while his four assists are tied for first.

The Tigers travel to Indian Hills Community College on Wednesday afternoon for an ICCAC matchup at 4:00 PM.
