NSCAA Poll  NJCAA Poll

The Marshalltown Community College men's soccer squad jumped up to No. 16 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division I poll. The Tigers remained in the Receiving Votes category in the NJCAA Division I poll.

MCC (9-2-1) jumped into the top 20 after receiving votes in last week's NSCAA poll. The Tigers have received votes in five of the six weeks of voting in both the NSCAA and the NJCAA polls. The Tigers were last ranked inside the top 20 in the preseason poll where MCC came in at No. 16 in the NSCAA and No. 15 in the NJCAA.

The polls were finalized on Tuesday afternoon, prior to MCC's 3-2 overtime victory over Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) foe Iowa Central Community College. The Tigers defeated the Tritons on a golden goal from freshman Juan Carrillo (Cordoba, Spain/CES Lope de Vega), his second goal and fifth point of the game. Carrillo was honored before the game with this week's ICCAC Offensive Player of the Week award.

MCC has rattled off five straight conference wins and are now 5-1-0 in the ICCAC. The Tigers' only conference defeat of the year came at the hands of Iowa Western Community College. The Reivers are the lone undefeated team in the country, sporting an 11-0-0 record. Iowa Western was awarded the No. 1 ranking in both the NSCAA and the NJCAA polls this week.

Both teams will square off on Saturday afternoon as the Tigers host the Reivers at 2:00 PM. The Reivers defeated MCC 3-0 in the team's first meeting of the year on Sept. 11.
