Juan Carrillo named NJCAA Division I All-American

2013 NJCAA Division I Men's Soccer All-Americans

For the second consecutive year the Marshalltown Community College men's soccer program will boast an NJCAA Division I All-American. Freshman Juan Carrillo (Cordoba, Spain/CES Lope de Vega) earned second-team honors after leading the Tigers in scoring in 2013.

Carrillo joins Javier Lopez Mochan who was named to the NJCAA Division I third-team in 2012 and becomes the sixth All-American in program history.

 Carrillo was one of four members of the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) to earn All-American honors. The 2013 national champion Iowa Western Reivers placed one player on the first, second, and third teams.

Carrillo made an immediate impact in his collegiate career for the Tigers, leading MCC in goals (14) assists (13), and points (41) in his rookie campaign. The freshman finished fourth in the ICCAC in goals, second in assists, and third in points. Carrillo also tied for second in the nation with seven game-winning goals.

Carrillo had 10 games with multiple points in leading the Tigers to a 14-4-1 record and the No. 2 seed in the Region XI playoffs. Carrillo posted three games with five points, including a two-goal performance in a 3-2 overtime win against Iowa Central.
