Marshalltown, IA—The Marshalltown Community College men's soccer team returned to the win column with a 3-1 victory over Scott Community College at home on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers improve to 11-7-0 overall and 7-4-0 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

MCC jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first 13 minutes as Jordan Gilmore (Portadown, UK/Craigavon) and Eniz Smajlovic (Ankeny, IA/Ankeny) scored on assists from Juan Carrillo (Cordoba, Spain/CES Lope de Vega). Charles Huberty (Champlin, MN/Prairie Seeds) put the Tigers up 3-0 in the second half on an assist from Smajlovic to put the game away.

Five minutes later, Carrillo sent a cross into the box from the right side that found the head of Smajlovic who beat the Scott keeper for his third tally of the year. The Tigers carried the 2-0 lead into halftime.

MCC continued to control possession to open the second half. Huberty hit pay dirt at the 53:38 mark after firing a shot from the far side of the Scott box to pick up his fifth career goal.

The Eagles got on the board in the 61st minute, but the Tigers' lead was safe to secure the win.

With the win, the Tigers remain in second place in the league standings ahead of Iowa Central Community College and Iowa Lakes Community College.
