Soccer ranked No. 20 in NSCAA, receive votes in NJCAA polls

Entering the final week of the 2014 regular season, the Marshalltown Community College men's soccer team remained in both the NJCAA Division I and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division I polls. The Tigers are ranked No. 20 in the NSCAA and received votes in the NJCAA.

The Tigers remained in the "Receiving Votes" category in the NJCAA poll for the second straight week and dropped four spots from No. 16 in the NSCAA poll. MCC has appeared in the national rankings for three consecutive weeks now.

MCC (11-6-0, 7-4-0) posted a 1-1 record last week, dropping a mid-week game to Iowa Lakes Community College 2-0 but bounced back to take a 3-1 victory over Scott Community College on Saturday. The Tigers remain in second place in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC), a half-game ahead of Iowa Central Community College.

The Tigers have one game remaining, a road match at North Iowa Area Community College this afternoon, while the Tritons have two games remaining- against first-place Iowa Western Community College this afternoon and against North Iowa Area on Saturday.

Despite winning both games last week, unbeaten Iowa Western slipped to No. 2 in both polls behind Yavapai College.

Kick-off between MCC and the Trojans is set for 4:00 PM today.
