Soccer to host Scott in first round of Region XI Tournament

For the second consecutive year the Marshalltown Community College men's soccer team will enter the Region XI Tournament as the No. 2 seed and host the opening round game. The Tigers will take on No. 7 seed Scott Community College at 3:00 PM on Wednesday afternoon.

MCC (12-6-0, 8-4-0) defeated Scott (2-14-0, 2-10-0) twice in the regular season by a combined score of 7-1. The Tigers shutout the Eagles on the road 4-0 on Sept. 20 and recorded their second win with a 3-1 victory at home on Oct. 18.

The Tigers are 17-1-0 all-time against the Eagles, but the matchup is the first tournament pairing between the two teams in MCC history.

Iowa Western Community College received the top overall seed in the tournament after posting a 17-0-1 overall record and 11-0-1 conference mark. Iowa Lakes Community College received the No. 3 seed while Iowa Central Community College enters as the No. 4 seed.

Sophomore Juan Carrillo (Cordoba, Spain/CES Lope de Vega) has paced the Tigers' offensive attack this year with 14 goals and 13 assists for a total of 41 points. Carrillo ranks first in the ICCAC in assists, second in points and tied for third in goals scored. Kwan Tolbert (Conway, AR/Conway) has anchored the MCC defense that has allowed just 22 goals on the year.

Ndayingiye Juste has led the Eagles throughout the year with a team-high 10 goals and 22 points in 2014.

Live stats and live video will be provided for Wednesday's matchup.

The tournament's final four will be held on Nov. 1 and 2 at the Cownie Sports Complex in Des Moines, IA.
