2014 All-Region XI Teams

Eight members of the Marshalltown Community College men's soccer team were selected to the All-Region XI team, including three first team selections for the Tigers. 2014 marks the fourth consecutive year the Tigers have placed at least six players on the all-region team.

The Tigers' three sophomore captains- Juan Carrillo (Cordoba, Spain/CES Lope de Vega), Jordan Gilmore (Portadown, UK/Craigavon), and Celes Vilar (Las Palmas, Spain/San Antonio Maria Claret) were all named to the first team.

Austin See (Nevada, IA/Nevada) received his first all-region nod as the sophomore joined freshmen Agustin Ortiz (Marshalltown, IA/Marshalltown) and David Gomez (Marshalltown, IA/Marshalltown) on the second team. Sophomore Marquell Comer (Tallahassee, FL/Lincoln) and freshman Eniz Smajlovic (Ankeny, IA/Ankeny) were named to the All-Region Honorable Mention team.

Carrillo becomes the first repeat first-team selection for the Tigers since Bruno Liozzi received back-to-back honors in 2011 and 2012. The sophomore, who was named an NJCAA All-American in 2013, led the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) with 44 total points and 16 total assists and finished fourth with 14 goals on the year. The sophomore finished his career as the all-time assists leader at MCC (29) and the single season assists leader (16). Carrillo's 28 career goals put him at fourth all-time at MCC while his 85 career points rank third all-time.

Vilar bounced back from an injury-plagued freshman season to score seven goals and add five assists during his final year at MCC. Vilar also provided two game-winning goals for the Tigers, including an overtime winner at Iowa Lakes Community College on Sept. 16.

Gilmore anchored the MCC defense that allowed just 1.39 goals per game. The sophomore also tallied three goals and three assists on the year.

See made 14 starts for the Tigers on defense and appeared in 18 of the team's 20 games. The sophomore recorded one assist on the year. Ortiz joined See on the back line, making 18 starts on the year. The freshman scored three goal, including the Tigers' lone goal in the Region XI semi-finals. Gomez's seven goals tied for second on the team while his 17 total points ranked third.

Comer appeared in all 20 games, making 17 starts as the team's primary left back. Smajlovic tallied 11 points on the year, including eight in a five game span.

The Tigers finished the year with a 13-7 record and an 8-4 mark in conference play.
