Rafael Pereira earns second-straight Goalkeeper of the Week honor

For the second straight week, Rafael Pereira (Lisbon, Portugal/Escola Secundaria Ferreira) has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Goalkeeper of the Week. Pereira was a part of two conference shutouts that helped improve the Tigers to 6-0-0 on the year, including a 3-0-0 mark in league play.

Pereira posted a complete game shutout in a 2-0 win over Indian Hills Community College on Wednesday, posting three saves on the day. Pereira also stopped three shots in 80 minutes of action in a 4-0 win over Scott Community College on Saturday.

The Tigers, ranked No. 17 in this week's NJCAA and NSCAA Division I polls, are off to their best start since 2007. Pereira has been a central figure in the run, having held his opponents scoreless for the last 289:80 in net. His 0.52 goals against average is tied for first in the ICCAC.

As a team, the Tigers have allowed just three goals, two coming on penalty kicks.

Pereira and the Tigers look to up their record in an ICCAC matchup at home on Tuesday afternoon, hosting Iowa Central Community College (2-1-0/2-1-0) at 4:00 PM.
