Tigers continue to rise, move up to No. 7 in national rankings

NJCAA Division I Men's Soccer Poll

For the third consecutive week the Marshalltown Community College Men's Soccer team moved up in the national rankings. This week the Tigers came in at No. 7 in the NJCAA Division I poll after cracking the top 10 at No. 9 last week.

The Tigers (11-0-1/7-0-1) leapfrogged Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) foe Iowa Western Community College (8-1-2/6-0-1) in this week's rankings as the Reivers remained at No. 8. Monroe College held on to the top spot in the rankings while Yavapai College and Eastern Florida State College rounded out the top three.

A pair of shutouts last week led to the Tigers' jump in the poll. The Tigers defeated William Penn JV 2-0 on Tuesday and held off Northeast Community College 1-0 for an ICCAC victory. The Tigers have shutout their last three opponents and have recorded eight shutouts on the year.

As a team, the Tigers currently have the lowest goals against average in the nation at 0.41. Freshman Rafael Pereira (Lisbon, Portugal/Escola Secundaria Vergilio Ferreira) leads the nation with a 0.42 mark in net.

This week the Tigers travel to Indian Hills Community College at 4:00 PM on Wednesday and host Scott Community College at 4:00 PM on Friday.
