No. 7 MCC suffers 2-1 setback at Indian Hills

Ottumwa, IA—The No. 7 Marshalltown Community College Men's Soccer team dropped its first regular season match since Oct. 15, 2014, falling to Indian Hills Community College 2-1 on Saturday afternoon. The loss snaps a 25-match unbeaten streak for the Tigers.

MCC (3-1-0/2-1-0) allowed two first half goals to the Warriors (2-2-0/1-2-0) to fall behind early. Kino Ryosuke (Hyogo, Japan/Takigawadaini), the Tigers' leading scorer throughout the early portion of the season, tallied a goal late in the second to give MCC some life, but could not bury the equalizer.

The loss is the first to the Warriors for MCC since Oct. 20, 2012 when Indian Hills took a 2-1 decision.

Sophomore keeper Rafael Pereira (Lisbon, Portugal/Escola Secundaria Vergilio Ferreira) stopped eight shots in the net for the Tigers.

Ryosuke's goal was his sixth of the best which tops the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC). The freshman's 14 points also top the conference and rank fifth in the nation. Freshman Jose Moreno (Cordoba, Spain/I.E.S. Blas Infante) was credited with the assist on the goal, his team-best fourth helper of the season.

MCC is back in action on Sept. 6 as the Tigers travel to Iowa Lakes Community College (3-1-0/3-1-0) for an ICCAC matchup at 4:00 PM.
