NJCAA Division I Men's Soccer Poll

Following the team's biggest win of the year, the Marshalltown Community College Men's Soccer team was rewarded with No. 3 ranking in this week's NJCAA Division I Men's Soccer poll, tying the program record for highest ranking.

The Tigers (7-1-0/6-1-0) upset No. 3 Iowa Western Community College on Saturday afternoon, blanking the Reivers 2-0 at home. MCC also used a 2-1 victory over previously ranked Iowa Central on Wednesday afternoon to boost the Tigers into the top five.

MCC was led last week by freshman Kino Ryosuke (Hyogo, Japan/Takigawadaini) who tallied six points on three goals last week, including both game-winners. On the defensive end, sophomore Rafael Pereira (Lisbon, Portugal/Escola Secundaria Vergilio Ferreira) stopped a total of 13 shots between the two games and picked up his 14th career shutout.

The 2007 MCC team was ranked No. 3 at the end of the season following a run to the national tournament. The Tigers were ranked as high as No. 5 in the 2015 poll.

Iowa Western fell one spot to No. 3 in this week's poll while fellow Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) member Iowa Lakes Community College received votes for the second consecutive week.

The Tigers host Hawkeye Community College at 4:00 PM on Tuesday. The Redtails are the newest member to join the ICCAC.
