Tigers defeat Maple Woods 5-4

The MCC Soccer team move to 1-0 on the season as they defeated MCC Maple Woods 5-4.  The Tigers struck first with a goal from Kino Ryosuke in just the third minute of the game. MCC Maple Woods answered at the twenty-minute mark to tie the game 1-1. The first half ended with a pair of goals from by David Kromah and Leonardo Tomasi to put the Tigers up 3-1. To open up the second half Kino Ryosuke scored again for the Tigers to move to 4-1 on the day. Maple Woods responded twelve minutes later with a goal to move to 4-2 but the Tigers again responded quickly with a goal from Manoel dos Passos just two minutes later to move ahead 5-2. The final few minutes saw a pair of goals for Maple Woods but the Tigers were able to hold off a 5-4 victory.  

When asked about the game head coach Rafael Martinez stated, "It was a very typical first match of the year, there were some communication problems that we need to improve on throughout the season."  Martinez also stated, "We did well in the attaching third and we were able to learn a lot about ourselves and most players had quality minutes, overall I think we had a lot more positives then negatives so we will take this first win as a good start to the season."

The Men's Soccer team was set to take on Johnson County Community College on Sunday the 27 but the contest was canceled due to weather. At this time, the game will not be rescheduled.

The Tigers will be back in action Saturday September 2 when they take on Anoka-Ramsey Community College at home.
